1973-2023： From House to Church
House
In 1969, a family from Unity Lutheran Church in Balakong decided to settle in Salak South Garden and start a humble house worship in their flat. The then Lutheran Church Malaysia-Singapore (LCMS) (now Lutheran Church Malaysia (LCM)) rented a double-storey linked house at B-14, Jalan Gempita 3. This house served as their regular place of worship and also accommodated the missionary pastor, Rev. John Wong, and his family who were sent by LCMS from Hong Kong. Among the Sunday School students at that time was a young boy who lived next door and had been affected by polio.Little did anyone know that decades later, this young boy would become our beloved Bishop Thomas Low.
一个家庭在1969年，从信义会无拉港合一堂重新扎根在沙叻秀花园。在他一间简单的公寓里正式成立了一间敬拜神的圣所。当时马新信义会（现今马来西亚信义会）凭着信心租用了一间双层排屋，位于B-14，Jalan Gempita 3。也以这间房屋开始主日崇拜，同时，马新信义会也差派来自香港的宣教士黄约翰牧师与家人来为这社区的人服事。在当时的主日学学员当中，其中一位来自隔壁从小患上小儿麻痹症，在神的计划和带领之下，现今他已经认识神數十載年。而这位当时的年轻小伙子，正是我们所认识的刘国灿會督了！
Church
LCMS acquired a double plot of bungalow land adjacent to Jalan Cahaya 1. In 1973, a new chapel and parsonage were constructed on one of the lots. The dedication of the church building took place on 15th December 1973, coinciding with the acceptance of Holy Light Lutheran Church (HLLC) as an organized congregation of LCMS. Rev. Henri Bishop, another missionary pastor, was sent to support the English ministry. As part of his outreach, Rev. Henri Bishop initiated a tuition class for the youths in the community. After their lessons, he would bring out his old guitar and engage them in singing sessions. This laid the foundation for a budding youth fellowship. Concurrently, a kindergarten was established to cater to the community, with Ms. Grace Lim being the first local teacher employed by the church.
在1973年，马新信义在 Jalan Cahaya 1 买下两块独立式洋房的土地，其中一块土地用来建一座教堂和牧师楼（现今的副堂、牧师办公室和马可楼）。 在1973年12月15日，信义会圣光堂正式成立也加入了马新信义会成为一分子，在同一天也举办了献堂仪式。此外，还有一位外国宣教士亨利牧师，被差派协助信义会圣光堂英文堂会的事工。事工撒种的开始是由亨利牧师借着在本社区开办补习班，补习班过后他拿出一把生锈的吉他来教这班学生唱歌，因此福音的种子也撒在这一班年轻人的身上。同时信义会圣光堂的幼儿园也正式成立为社区服务，因此Grace Lim 姐妹是受雇于本会堂的首位本地老师。
